IS IT POSSIBLE TO CREATE A GLOSSY IMAGE, LIKE ON INSTAGRAM, WITH LIMITED SKILLS AND RESOURCES?

Why do photos and videos with simple sketches rise to the top so quickly, while high-quality works may go unnoticed by society?

Social networks do not always require a high level of professionalism from the artist, but they do require high-quality images that can be sold to the viewer. Angle, lighting, filters, camera quality? Yes, it all matters. After all, the visual perception of a drawing or canvas in real life will differ from a photograph depicting a creative unit.

After all, you need to be able to photograph a stylus on paper, which can glare, and a varnished canvas, which has specific characteristics when displayed digitally – color rendering, the influence of the correct light source, and the reflection of its rays. Therefore, converting a finished work into a digital copy involves a number of nuances that need to be understood and learned to work with.

If you are wondering whether
you need to learn how to draw better to gain more recognition on social media, the answer is yes, it is worth doing. But it is also important to understand that you need to learn how to manage social media and work with the conditions for promoting and presenting yourself in the information space. Look for references for yourself and try to recreate something similar, because as you train your eye, you will be able to find your own personal style of running a social media page.

Being able to “sell” your work directly or attract the attention of connoisseurs is an important skill for an artist, because the conditions for maintaining a page on social media require high-quality visualization. Find yourself and feel free to experiment with lighting and angles. Pay attention to the materials you work with on the surface and look for the perfect
solutions for creating a digital copy.

How can you best showcase your work so that it looks as impressive on screen as it does in real life?

First and foremost – lighting. Natural soft light (for example, near a window) is the best option. It allows you to avoid the yellow or blue tints that lamps give off and clearly conveys the colors and texture of the paper. Avoid strong direct sunlight, as it creates sharp shadows.

The next important aspect is angle and alignment. It is best to photograph the drawing directly from above or at eye level to avoid distortion. If the photo is taken at an angle, even the best work can look sloppy.

Image quality is equally important. A blurry or dark photo prevents the viewer from appreciating the details that the artist worked on for hours. Therefore, it is worth using a camera with good resolution or at least cleaning the lens before shooting.

It is also important to take care of the background. A neutral or neat background (for example, a table, canvas, or plain fabric) will not distract attention from the drawing itself. Even better if the background complements the style of the work, creating an atmosphere.

And finally, editing. Slight adjustments to brightness, contrast, and sharpness do not distort the essence of the drawing but help convey it to viewers as accurately as possible.

So, photographing a drawing correctly is also part of the creative process.
It is a way to present your work with respect, highlight its strengths, and make it recognizable
and unique.
