How much is possible?

Why does art require so much time to create a single creative unit?

Preparing a sketch, transferring it to a full-size base, fixing it, applying layers of paint step by step, correcting individual areas, fixing the finished work. But what about the organic drying of each layer? Especially when the room has high humidity?

It would seem that art should inspire and fix unique images in full format, as if on a conveyor belt – 10, or better yet, 20 artworks a day! But the creative process is more about the painstaking work and thoughtful labor of the master.

After all, the main goal of the artist is not only to create a painting, but also to ensure the high-quality preservation of the canvas for decades to come.

The quality of the materials and the work of the master must be at the same (high) level.

That is why more time and resources should be devoted to creating a unique creative unit.

Therefore, it is worth paying attention to the quality and quantity of images and compositions that you want to convey to your audience first, and then to the whole world. After all, spending six months creating paintings with a landscape of a blooming field would be equivalent to creating a family portrait of a wealthy family. But the question also arises as to what is more natural for the author (after all, a portraitist will not pay special attention to landscapes, since his portfolio should be based precisely on the creation of portraits). A portfolio is an indicator of your skill and an instant offer to the customer for your services. Therefore, remember that in order to create for pleasure, you should present finished works in a specific direction that suits your preferences.

Since creating a full format takes a little more time than the author might like, it is important to carefully select the quality and quantity of works that you can present in your portfolio.

Art is not just an activity aimed at creating beautiful images or objects. It is a profound process of self-expression, searching for truth, and conveying the artist’s emotional state. That is why it takes so much time.

Firstly, artistic skill does not arise instantly. To learn how to convey volume, space, light, and shadow, you need to train your hand for a long time, develop your eye, and study the structure of forms and the nature of materials. Mastering technique takes years of learning, trial and error, without which it is impossible to create a complete work.

Secondly, true art cannot exist without an idea. An artist does not copy the world around them – they interpret it. Often, the most difficult and time-consuming part is not the process of painting itself, but the search for an image that can convey an inner state, thought, or emotion. This search requires deep immersion, silence, and time for reflection.

In addition, art is constant self-improvement. Each new work is a challenge, a desire to say something new, better, deeper. Therefore, the artist returns to work again and again, refines details, studies new approaches, and experiments. So, it is no coincidence that art requires a lot of time.

It is a complex but fascinating process that shapes not only the works but also the artist’s personality.
And perhaps this is where its greatest value lies.
