Art loves sincerity and devotion, because the realization of what is depicted on paper or canvas requires a “truthful” representation of events and emotional background. The ability to work with “living” subjects is more about the artist than their skills. You don’t need to have 15 years of experience working with oil paints to convey “liveliness.” But you definitely need to develop your skills in the psychology of art and the ability to convey the depth of what you are depicting.
